Protect Your Telegram: Avoiding Scams
The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine warns about the threat of scams.
During the ongoing war, Telegram has become not only a source of timely news but also a hub for fraud. Over 70% of Ukrainians contact the digital security hotline Nadiyno.org regarding hacked Telegram accounts.
Common tactics used by scammers after hacking an account include sending messages asking for money or requesting votes in contests.
Tips to protect your account:
- enable two-step verification;
- avoid clicking on suspicious links;
- check active sessions in Telegram settings and log out from unknown devices;
- restrict access to personal information;
- use strong passwords and two-factor authentication instead of SMS for login.
