Arrest of Official for Bribery in Odessa Region
In the Odessa region, law enforcement has apprehended the deputy head of the LCC of one of the district hospitals for receiving a bribe of 6 thousand dollars for discharge from military service. Police investigators have charged the suspect. He now faces imprisonment, prohibition from holding certain positions, and confiscation of assets.
According to the press service of the National Police in the Odessa region, the deputy head of the medical advisory commission at one of the hospitals in the Podilskyi district, in collusion with unidentified officials from the Military Medical Clinical Center of the Southern Region, offered to help a man get his friend, a soldier from one of the military units, discharged for health reasons. He priced his "services" at 6 thousand dollars. For this amount, he promised to provide the serviceman with medical documents that would justify his discharge from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and even arranged for stationary "treatment" for the soldier.
"During the operation to halt the suspect's criminal activities, police documented the receipt of illegal benefits in two installments and the transfer of the promised medical documents, after which he was apprehended in accordance with the law.
Based on the collected evidence, investigators have charged the perpetrator under part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – for receiving illegal benefits by a public official for actions in favor of a third party using his official position, carried out in collusion by a group of individuals. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years, along with a prohibition on holding certain positions or engaging in specific activities for up to three years, and confiscation of property.
The court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention with the right to post bail in the amount of 908,400 hryvnias. Individuals involved in the scheme are being identified", - the statement reads.
