Lectures for Holodomor Remembrance Day in Odessa
At the Odessa Museum of Genocide «Territory of Memory», a seminar was held for teachers of social studies in secondary education institutions in connection with Holodomor Remembrance Day.
The event emphasized historical lessons from the genocides in the 20th century in Ukraine, the relevance of studying these events, especially in the context of the current Russian-Ukrainian war.
Educators were presented with the museum's educational projects and received guidelines on how to teach the tragic aspects of the Holodomor to various student categories, considering age differences and the current realities of wartime in Ukraine.
Teachers discovered lesser-known aspects of the regional history of the Holodomor in the Odessa region through an engaging lecture filled with facts. Specific examples illustrated the signs of genocide against Ukrainian peasants in 1932-1933 and the Ukrainian national elite from 1930-1933.
Additionally, the educators explored the museum exhibition «Territory of Memory», dedicated to the theme of genocides.
