New Fare Increase for Public Electric Transport in Odesa

From 2022 to 2024, despite the ongoing military conditions, many cities in Ukraine have seen increases in public electric transport fares.

The current fares for electric transport in Odesa were established in 2021 and have remained unchanged since then.

In 2022, the rising costs of spare parts and materials led to increased service costs, creating a gap between expenses and existing fares that necessitates a review of transport tariffs.

The municipal enterprise «OMET» conducted a calculation of transport fares in accordance with the existing regulations approved by the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

The recent calculations indicated that the fare for transporting one passenger is 17.69 UAH, while the fare per kilometer is 130.732 UAH. The fare for the funicular ride is 16.93 UAH.

The compliance of these calculations with current legislation was verified by the Department of Economic Development of the Odesa City Council.

To ensure proper quality of passenger transport services,  the enterprise «OMET» will introduce a new fare of 15.00 UAH for a single ride.

At the same time, existing discounts for students and schoolchildren will be maintained. The cost per ride for regular tickets will be 2.00 UAH for schoolchildren, 4.00 UAH for students, and 7.00 UAH for the general public.

It is anticipated that the new transport fares will come into effect on December 1, 2024.

Additionally, the fare for public transport is expected to increase to 20 UAH within the city and 40 UAH for distances up to 6 km on the Ovidiopol road.
