The Psychological Impact of War: Insights and Discussions
On April 29, a significant event took place at the Odesa National Scientific Library — a lecture titled ‘War Trauma: Psychological Impact’ featuring Antonina Bruss, a member of the Ukrainian Association of Psychotherapy and the European Federation of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy.
This event was organized under the program ‘Mental Health: The Library as a Space for Psychosocial Support’, implemented in collaboration with the Coordination Center for Mental Health of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine as part of the initiative by the First Lady Olena Zelenska titled ‘How are you?’.
Participants included cadets from the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs. The lecture served as a platform for an open dialogue about how three years of full-scale war have altered the psychological landscape of Ukrainians.
Ms. Bruss emphasized that war is not just a physical confrontation, but a deep emotional and mental struggle affecting everyone — regardless of gender, age, or status.
The event contributed to the development of emotional literacy, increased awareness among cadets about the mental consequences of war, and provided tools for maintaining inner balance.
