Zelensky Demands Long-Term Ceasefire

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's statement about a potential "ceasefire" from May 8 to 10. He emphasized that Ukraine needs not a temporary "ceasefire" for a parade in Moscow but a full and immediate cessation of hostilities for at least 30 days.

Details: In his address, Zelensky stressed that Ukraine does not desire any second of this war and is ready to cooperate with all partners to establish peace and ensure safety. Meanwhile, Russia continues to reject such initiatives and manipulates the international community, attempting to deceive, particularly the United States.

According to the president, the ceasefire should be unconditional, immediate, and last at least 30 days.

Direct quote: "Once again, we see another attempt at manipulation: for some reason, everyone is expected to wait until May 8 to stop the fire, just to give Putin silence during the parade.

We value human lives, not parades. That is why we believe – the world believes – that there is no reason to wait until May 8. The fire should not be stopped for just a few days only to resume killing afterward. Immediate, complete, and unconditional ceasefire for at least 30 days is what can lay the foundation for real diplomacy."
