June 6 marks Journalist Day in Ukraine.

Greetings for Journalist Day

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Oleksandr Syrskyi, and representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine extended heartfelt greetings to media workers, recognizing their courage and professionalism in the challenging conditions of war and honoring the memory of those who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Message from President Volodymyr Zelensky

The head of state expressed gratitude to journalists and all media professionals for their dedication to their work.

“The world knows what is happening in Ukraine, and all of this is thanks to the efforts of thousands of our journalists,” – emphasized Zelensky.

He noted that the professionalism and bravery of Ukrainian journalists who cover events in the country are crucial for safeguarding the information space.

“Thank you! Happy Journalist Day. Please remember those journalists who lost their lives in this war – they deserve our remembrance and respect. Glory to Ukraine!” – the President emphasized.

Greetings from Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces General Oleksandr Syrskyi

General Syrskyi also congratulated journalists on their professional holiday.

“You convey the truth about our nation's struggle, holding the informational shield of Ukraine,” – he stated.

He highlighted the importance of reports and the daily work of journalists, which help preserve historical memory and boost the morale of Ukrainian soldiers.

“Today, we remember those who lost their lives while fulfilling their duties. Their courage is an example of serving freedom of speech,” – added the general.

Greetings from the Security Service of Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine emphasized the dangerous conditions in which journalists work: “You work where it is vital to convey the truth.”

“Journalists have become the eyes of the world in this war, highlighting the heroism of Ukrainians. Thanks to you, the international community understands what true freedom is,” – stated the SBU.

Journalist Day: Key Facts

Journalist Day (June 6) is an annual holiday for media workers in Ukraine, symbolizing the recognition of their role in society.

The holiday was established on May 25, 1994, by the decree of President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk.

This date was chosen to commemorate the acceptance of the Union of Journalists of Ukraine into the International Federation of Journalists on June 6, 1992.
