Safe Online Shopping: Protecting Yourself from Scammers

Online shopping has become a common practice for many people, but it is crucial to know how to protect yourself from scammers. Cybercriminals continually refine their tactics, so adhere to simple safety rules.

To avoid issues when shopping online, pay attention to the following recommendations:

Choose cash on delivery. Scammers often sell products at low prices to collect prepayments, after which they disappear.

Compare prices. Malicious actors may create fake pages and offer unrealistic discounts. If an offer seems suspiciously good, think twice.

Check URLs. Do not click on dubious links. Scammers create websites that mimic real stores, so it's essential to verify the address and ensure it starts with https.

Do not enter your payment details on unfamiliar sites. Before making a purchase, check the seller's reputation, read reviews, and look for information on independent resources.

Never share your card details. Always keep your card information confidential and avoid giving it to third parties.

Use a separate card for online purchases. Load it before shopping to reduce risks.

Ensure that your store supports 3D Secure. This feature provides an additional verification step during payment.

Avoid using public Wi-Fi for payments. Open networks can be risky.

When scanning QR codes, check the URL. Criminals may use fake QR codes to obtain your information.
