Farewell to a Hero: Captain Vladislav Ilchuk
In the Odessa region, the community bid farewell to Captain Vladislav Ilchuk. He died in combat on February 22, 2025. The Bolgrad City Council emphasized that he took up arms to defend his homeland from the very first days of the invasion.
Today, March 2, the village of Tabaky honored the commander of the mechanized battalion, Vladislav Ilchuk. Before the war, he lived with his family in Bakhmut, Donetsk region. With the onset of the full-scale war, he took a stand to defend his country, but his family was forced to relocate to Odessa after their hometown was devastated.
"After fierce battles in Bakhmut, the officer's family had to leave their hometown and move to the Bolgrad community. Here they tried to build a new life, believing that peace would come and their Hero would return home. However, the enemy shattered these hopes, leaving the family without a husband, son, and father.
The body of the fallen defender was carried through a living corridor created by community members, honoring Vladislav's bravery. At the cemetery, where he was laid to rest alongside other fallen soldiers, his widow was presented with the state flag of Ukraine as a symbol of gratitude and remembrance," the Bolgrad community emphasized.
