Investigation Against Official in Bolgrad District
The Odesa regional prosecutor's office has announced charges against the head of a village council in the Bolgrad district for soliciting an unlawful benefit in exchange for influencing a decision by a person authorized to perform state or local government functions (Part 3, Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the official demanded $12,000 from a local business leader for assistance in the allocation of four agricultural land plots, each measuring 50 hectares.
In return for this money, he promised to influence village council deputies to approve the sale of rights to the plots, allowing their subsequent transfer to the business.
The village head was detained after receiving a $3,000 advance. He has been placed in custody with an option for bail and has been suspended from his position.
Measures to uncover illegal activities were conducted by prosecutors of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office in collaboration with investigators from the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa region, with operational support from the Criminal Investigation Department.
