Man Arrested in Odessa for Fraudulent Document Assistance for Illegal Emigration

A man was detained in Odessa for allegedly helping with document processing for illegal emigration for 15 thousand dollars.

This was reported by the Odessa police on February 13.

According to the investigation, a 37-year-old man promised his acquaintance a six-month deferment from military service due to health issues, which would allow him to leave the country.

The Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Defense in the Southern Region indicated that false information was to be entered into the "Reserve+" and "Oberih" systems. The cost of such services was set at 15 thousand dollars.

The Odessa resident was arrested while receiving the payment. Investigators seized the money, a mobile phone, a car, and documents from him. He was charged under part 3 of article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which carries a penalty of up to nine years in prison, along with a prohibition on holding certain positions or engaging in specific activities for up to three years with property confiscation.

The court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention with the right to post bail set at 908,400 hryvnias. As part of the proceedings, police will identify individuals who used the services of the detained.
