Fast-Track Cities 2024 Conference: Advancements in the Fight Against Epidemics

The Fast-Track Cities 2024 Conference will take place in Paris from October 13 to 15, 2024.

The event aims to summarize a decade of work within a global network uniting over 550 cities in the fight against HIV, hepatitis, and tuberculosis, while outlining strategies for the next ten years.

Odessa's Mayor, Gennadiy Trukhanov, will present the city's achievements since signing the Paris Declaration in 2017.

Since then, funding for municipal programs has increased more than fourfold, and currently:
- 98% of people living with HIV are aware of their status;
- 96% are receiving treatment;
- 96% have an undetectable viral load.

Special attention is given to high-risk groups, with multidisciplinary teams working with them. Programs have been implemented to assist individuals with mental health issues related to substance use.

Despite the ongoing war, no social programs have been cut; instead, Odessa has expanded support for vulnerable populations.

This year’s conference topics focus on addressing issues in vulnerable communities and sharing experiences to achieve equitable and inclusive health outcomes.

«Currently, a significant issue for us is the creation of an accessible environment. The experience of Paris, which hosted the Paralympic Games, inspires us. I am convinced that further collaboration will allow us to achieve even greater progress in all areas of society, where the main value is human health and equal opportunities», - noted Gennadiy Trukhanov.
