Training for Local Communities in Odesa

Odesa hosted a training organized by the UNDP team focused on implementing infrastructure initiatives under the Emergency Credit Program for the Recovery of Ukraine.

Over the course of two days, representatives from local governments in 15 communities across 6 regions engaged in open discussions with UNDP experts, receiving advice and answers to their questions regarding project implementation in their municipalities.

The Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, welcomed the organizers and participants of the training, expressing gratitude to the UNDP team for their collaborative experiences and ongoing support in the development of new projects.

"Our partnership began in 2020. I have always insisted that departmental structures demonstrate their capability and openness. And I believe we have succeeded — starting with 5 projects worth over 276 million UAH, we are now working on another 7 projects totaling over 813 million UAH, which we hope to complete by the end of 2025," shared Hennadiy Trukhanov.

In Odesa, projects focus on education and healthcare.
So far, the reconstruction of School No. 41 and the outpatient clinic of City Hospital No. 8 has been completed. Currently, the reconstruction of three more schools is nearing completion.

Plans also include major repairs for two schools, a maternity hospital, and the infectious disease hospital and Hospital No. 1.

Project implementation occurs under co-financing conditions, with community budgets contributing 20%.
