Restoration of Historic Doors in Odesa
The grand doors at 13 Lermontov Lane in Odesa have been restored, taking us back over a century, thanks to the «Thousand Doors» project.
This building was constructed in 1899 by architects Y. Tarnopolsky and K. Popov for merchant Yevhen Nikolaev. After a fire in 1903, the structure was restored and subsequently had a fourth floor added.
Today, this building stands as a local architectural landmark, preserving the history of Odesa's residents, educators, and engineers. The doors have regained their original appearance.
Each restored element is a true work of craftsmanship.
For this project, artisans recreated authentic bolts, partially restored the metal grilles, and integrated a modern electric lock and closer for convenience and security.
The wood surface is protected by Italian glaze and Danish oil, preserving the texture and natural shine of larch.
