Heroic Rescue During a Night Attack: Police Response
A few nights ago, during an air raid alert, an enemy drone landed in the yard of a house. A fire broke out, rapidly engulfing an outbuilding adjacent to the residential home. At that moment, a sick woman, unable to move on her own, was inside. Moreover, a gas cylinder was located in the fire's vicinity, which increased the risk of an explosion.
The first responders to the scene were a patrol police crew.
«There was no doubt – we needed to act immediately. My partner, Oleksandr Slyvynskyi, facilitated the passage for the rescue vehicles to the impact site, while I entered the house through a window and opened the doors blocked by the shockwave for the medics. Together with a neighbor, we moved the gas cylinder away from the flames. Before the ambulance arrived, we kept the hostess warm with blankets to prevent hypothermia,» said Ruslan Bilyi, a police officer from the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi police department.
The paramedics transported the woman to the hospital, as she could not remain at home at that time, while the firefighters extinguished the blaze.
Thanks to the prompt and decisive actions of the police officers who were the first on the scene, as well as local residents, a tragedy was averted, and a life was saved.
