Farmers in Odesa Overcome Challenges to Achieve Record Harvest
In the face of drought and attacks, farmers in Odesa have managed to successfully complete their harvest and achieve unprecedented yields.
This was reported by the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Oleg Kiper.
"Our farmers stand strong. Agricultural producers in our region have finished harvesting early grains and legumes, collecting over 3.4 million tons! Wheat yielded 2.37 million tons, barley – 859 thousand tons, and rapeseed – 520 thousand tons," – he stated on Telegram.
This is a true feat of our farmers under challenging conditions, Kiper emphasized.
"A snowless winter, a dry spring, and a hot start to summer resulted in critical soil moisture deficits. Periodic rocket and drone strikes from the enemy create additional risks and complicate logistics," – he explained.
"Despite these challenges, Odesa remains the granary of Ukraine. Our farmers are already preparing for the new season. A total of 27,000 hectares of winter rapeseed have already been sown," – Kiper added.
