Celebrating Rescuer's Day in Ukraine

In Ukraine, September 17 is celebrated as Rescuer's Day.

This day honors not only the employees of rescue services but also all those who contribute to mitigating the consequences of emergencies and protecting lives.

The holiday was established on September 12, 2008, by a decree from the President of Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, the head of the State Emergency Service, Andrii Danyk, congratulated his colleagues on this professional holiday.

He emphasized that firefighters, medics, psychologists, and other specialists are vital parts of the SES team, saving thousands of lives every day.

“You demonstrate true courage and professionalism in difficult circumstances. Unfortunately, Russian forces cynically attack our units,” Danyk noted.

He also remarked that “our reality includes losses, destroyed equipment, and fallen comrades. The memory of those who gave their lives will always remain with us.”

Danyk thanked the rescuers for their dedication and faith in the victory of good.
