New Memorial in Izmail at Victory Square

A new informational stand displaying portraits of fallen heroes has been erected in Victory Square, Izmail, as the construction of the Avenue of Glory continues.

On July 17, the executive committee decided to set up this stand to honor the memory of the fallen. This was reported by Bessarabia INFORM.

22 flagpoles are planned to be installed next to the stand, each representing the military unit in which the fallen served. The portraits displayed include not only those from Izmail but also fighters from other communities whose families submitted the necessary requests.

Military serviceman Oleg Dyachenko emphasized that the idea for this memorial site arose from the desire to unite the families of the fallen and missing, as well as to provide residents with the opportunity to pay their respects.

“Here, we hold a moment of silence. The city council listened to us, and we achieved mutual understanding. Now, people come to the city and see our heroes. This is very important. Of course, we want each soldier to have a separate banner with information about the fallen,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, work on creating a full-fledged Avenue of Glory with large portraits of heroes is ongoing.
