Photo Contest «Wiki Loves Earth» 2025
From July 1 to July 31, 2025, Ukraine will host the international photo contest dedicated to natural landmarks «Wiki Loves Earth».
We invite all photographers, both amateurs and professionals, to join our project and capture high-quality images of unique natural sites for illustrating Wikipedia.
The main goal of the contest is to showcase the beauty of Ukraine's natural reserves, filling in the visual gaps of our parks, reserves, and other natural landmarks.
About the Contest
- «Wiki Loves Earth» started in Ukraine in 2013 and quickly gained international recognition. This year marks the twelfth edition, uniting thousands of enthusiasts around the world.
- There are about 9,000 natural reserve objects listed for the contest in Ukraine. Since its inception, participants have uploaded approximately 115,000 photos of over 5,000 natural landmarks, yet nearly 40% of them still lack any images in Wikimedia Commons. This is a unique opportunity for residents of Odesa region to showcase the natural treasures of their area.
Important Participation Conditions for 2025
Due to the security situation, the following restrictions have been established regarding the date of photo creation:
- For standard photos — taken by May 31, 2025 (inclusive).
- For aerial photos from drones and other flying devices — taken by February 23, 2022 (inclusive).
- Nominations and Awards
The contest will traditionally be held in two main categories:
- Quantitative: awards will be given to participants who photograph the largest number of unique natural landmarks.
- Qualitative: a professional jury will select the best photographs from each region, and subsequently — the top 10 photos of Ukraine.
Additionally, there will be special nominations:
- «Video»: for video materials about natural landmarks.
- «Nature Loss»: a special nomination in partnership with NGO «Ecodia», dedicated to documenting damage caused to the natural reserves due to aggression, disasters, or human impact.

The best photographers will receive valuable prizes from the organizer, NGO «Wikimedia Ukraine», and the top 15 works will represent Ukraine at the international stage.
