Revolutionizing Defense Supply: The DOT-Chain Defence System
A new digital initiative called DOT-Chain Defence has been launched in Ukraine, aimed at simplifying and speeding up the supply of weapons for the Defense Forces. This was announced by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, as reported by the Ministry of Defense.
The platform serves as a unique marketplace for weapons, created to ensure rapid support for frontline units. In the pilot phase, 10 brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will participate, with the Ministry of Defense allocating one billion hryvnias to the Defense Procurement Agency.
According to the ministry, these funds will allow brigades to order FPV drones and soon other types of UAVs, electronic warfare systems, and robotic complexes through the IT system of the State Logistics Operator.
Each military unit will have the opportunity to select what it specifically needs to fulfill its missions, while the Defense Procurement Agency will facilitate funding and delivery without unnecessary bureaucracy. The Ministry of Defense added that supplies will now arrive in weeks rather than months.
DOT-Chain Defence is developed based on the model used for food supply to the army.
How the system works:
- Military personnel can independently select, order, and reserve the necessary resources, track delivery times, leave feedback, and receive quick responses;
- Manufacturers gain a clear mechanism for cooperation with the state and military, as well as direct feedback from the service members;
- The government can see the real needs of the front line, make data-driven decisions, and support the development of the defense industry.
It should be noted that in June, the Ministry of Defense's procurement agencies presented the functionality of the IT system during an online meeting with representatives from over fifty military units.
