New Electrical Supply Standards in Ukraine Starting 2025
Starting July 1, 2025, Ukraine will adopt new European voltage standards of 230/400 V.
This is outlined in the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities (NERC) resolution No. 550 dated April 15.
The document modifies the Distribution System Code, introducing European approaches to defining power quality parameters. The nominal voltage will now be set at 230/400 V, with permissible deviations from nominal voltage of 10% (ranging from 207 to 253 V).
The DSTU EN 50160:2014 standard, which defined voltage characteristics in electrical networks, became invalid in March 2024. In May of the same year, a standard harmonized with the European EN 50160 was approved and became effective on March 1, 2025.
NERC expects that transitioning to European standards will positively impact the quality of electrical supply. A stable voltage will reduce the risk of damage to household appliances sensitive to fluctuations and will lessen the need for additional protective measures such as stabilizers. Furthermore, this will enhance energy efficiency as electrical devices can operate optimally without overloads.
The DTEK group emphasizes that household appliances are manufactured in accordance with European Union requirements, thus the transition to the new voltage standard will not adversely affect them.
