Celebrating Father's Day in Ukraine

June 15 — Father's Day Celebration in Ukraine

Father's Day in Ukraine is a relatively new tradition that seeks to establish its place in society. Various organizations have been working since 2006 to legalize this holiday. The idea gained traction but was officially recognized only in 2019 when the president signed a decree. Now, this day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June.

In contrast to Father's Day, Mother's Day has a deeper history in Ukraine and is celebrated on the second Sunday of May. This date aligns with international traditions and was officially established in 1999.

Since the outbreak of military conflict, many families have altered their celebration traditions. In these challenging times, families strive to spend more time together, even as festivities become more subdued.

This day serves as a reminder of the importance of family values. Parents who defend the country deserve our support. Children can create drawings or record videos for their fathers to express their love. If a father is no longer present, it is vital to visit his grave and share stories of his bravery with the children.

Being a parent is a significant responsibility. Children must feel loved, as parental love is a crucial support in life. If a father is absent, children will always seek his presence.

Father's Day is not just about biological fatherhood, but also about those men who fill that gap. This can include grandfathers, brothers, or other important figures who care for us.

On June 15, reach out to your loved ones for Father's Day. Whether it's a simple call or a coffee meeting, it's essential to show your support.
