Restoration of Odessa's Architectural Heritage After Attacks
The Mayor of Odessa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, held a meeting to discuss the damage to architectural heritage sites in the UNESCO zone and engaged with their residents.
Recently, a UNESCO mission visited Odessa to assess the impact of the attacks on this World Heritage site.
Currently, emergency measures are being taken to restore the integrity of the roofs, except for the most severely damaged sections where the upper floors are nearly destroyed.
In these areas, structural damages are being evaluated. Significant repair work is required to address these issues, which necessitates approval from cultural heritage authorities.
During the meeting with Deputy Minister of Community and Territory Development Vasyl Shkurakov, the Mayor raised concerns about legislative gaps that hinder residents of architectural heritage sites from receiving compensation under the eRecovery program.
