Elevator Upgrades in Odesa: New Technologies and Plans for 2024
In 2024, the replacement of 91 elevators is planned, contingent on funding from the city budget. Additionally, funds have already been allocated for the renovation of 44 elevators that have been in service for over 25 years.
Currently, the cost of replacing one elevator ranges from 1.5 to 2.3 million UAH, depending on the number of floors in the building and the elevator's load capacity. On average, repairing one elevator takes up to two months.
According to the Department of Urban Development, new elevators have been installed in apartment buildings at the following addresses: Nebesnoi Sotni St., 6, Simi Glodan (Ilf and Petrov) St., 17 and 29, Academik Zabolotny St., 49, Prince Yaroslav the Wise (Academik Hlushko) Ave., 34 and 11, and Lustdorfskaya Road, 164.
Experts indicate that modern elevators are 40% more energy-efficient. In case of a power outage, emergency evacuation procedures are in place, allowing residents to reach the nearest floor without hindrance, minimizing the risk of being trapped.
Since 2016, over 1,500 elevators have been replaced in Odesa. Due to the full-scale invasion, the city’s elevator restoration program was temporarily halted, but work resumed in early 2024.
Note
All new elevators are equipped with modern technology: frequency regulation and door control systems that ensure smooth opening and closing; elevator movement control systems that prolong the lifespan of the main winch's electric motor.
Moreover, this equipment allows for the use of lower power electric motors, leading to energy savings, decreased load on structural elements, and increased comfort during use.
The cabins of all modernized elevators are lined with vandal-proof coating - powder-coated metal, providing good protection against mechanical damage. The cabins are also equipped with vandal-proof lamps and metal buttons that cannot be lit or removed from the panel. All elevators are fitted with mirrors and handrails.
