Vandalism in the City: Issues and Consequences
Municipal services are constantly engaged in addressing the aftermath of vandalism in the city. Unknown individuals continue to damage benches, trash cans, and other urban furnishings, as well as deface the walls of underpasses.
Earlier this week, it was reported that vandals spilled white paint in the City Garden. Workers from the 'City Green Trust' joined forces with colleagues from the 'Service Center' to clean the paths. Previously, 15 rose bushes were reported stolen from a flowerbed near the 'Red Cross' stop.
Recently, specialists from the 'Odessa Electric Technical Installation Company' dealt with vandalism in pedestrian crossings, where once again, unknown individuals defaced the walls.
Electricians from 'Odessa City Light' recorded acts of vandalism along the Health Trail, where equipment on 10 poles was damaged. Automatic switches and terminal box covers were stolen, and cables were ripped out. Specialists restored the damaged equipment.
Workers from 'City Roads' regularly clean graffiti off public transport stops and install new glass panels. Almost daily, vandals leave graffiti, break benches, and destroy trash cans along with the concrete. Stops also suffer damage due to traffic accidents.
The Odessa City Council urges residents and guests to be mindful of community property, as intentional damage to city property carries criminal liability.
