Summer Planting in Odesa: New Floral Displays
The Odesa gardeners from the municipal enterprise «Miskzelentrest» have started planting summer flowers. The floral compositions will traditionally include salvias, geraniums, begonias, petunias, ageratum, tagetes, and chlorophytum.
The first summer flowers have already adorned the Birzha Square and the flowerbeds near the Primorsky district administration, replacing the spring blooms. This year, it is planned to plant 350 thousand summer flowers.
According to the municipal enterprise, summer flowers will be planted in all city districts, replacing the spring flowers that have already bloomed.
Today, gardeners also planted 72 bushes in Odesa.
Perennial plants such as junipers, hibiscuses, and broom are being planted with a closed root system for better adaptation to the urban environment.
These young plants beautified the median strip on Nebesna Sotnia Avenue and Prince Yaroslav the Wise Avenue.

All the flower seedlings (summer and spring) and the plants for vertical gardening (100-150 hanging pots) are cultivated in their greenhouses at the «Trojan» section. Annually, about 1 million plants are grown here, including 200-250 thousand spring flowers and 250 thousand flowering potted plants.
Gardeners plant about 40 thousand perennial plants each year, sourced from the enterprise's greenhouses. From September, preparations for the next year’s greenhouse planting begin. The «Trojan» section features a greenhouse complex and hotbeds over 5 hectares, cared for by 29 gardeners.
The first spring flowers, like daisies and forget-me-nots, beautify the city in early April, later replaced by summer flowers: salvias, petunias, and ageratum.
The municipal enterprise «Miskzelentrest» maintains over 547 hectares of green spaces, including 16 parks and 79 squares.
