Gastroscopy in Odesa: New Horizons for Patients

Last year, medical institutions in Odesa conducted 12,390 gastroscopic examinations, leading to 240 suspected cases of gastrointestinal tract cancer.

Esophagogastroduodenoscopy, commonly known as gastroscopy, is a crucial examination method for the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum using an endoscope. This procedure aids in early diagnosis of gastritis, ulcers, and benign or malignant tumors.

It is recommended for individuals over 50 to undergo gastroscopy routinely, even in the absence of complaints. If you are under 50 but your doctor insists on the procedure, you must obtain a referral to register at a facility that has a contract with the National Health Service of Ukraine for "Esophagogastroduodenoscopy".

The service is provided on an outpatient basis. However, if there is a need for gastroscopy during inpatient treatment, it is also conducted free of charge with a doctor's referral.

Modern video gastroscopes have been purchased for Odesa's medical facilities using municipal funds. A referral from a family or treating physician is necessary for free gastroscopy.

Free gastroscopy can be performed by appointment at the following addresses:

- Consultative and Diagnostic Center No. 6 — Dobrovoltsiv St. (Marshal Hovorov), 26a;

- Consultative and Diagnostic Center No. 20 — Levitan St., 62;
