Breast Cancer Awareness Day in Odesa

Last week, Odesa hosted an event focused on the prevention and early detection of breast cancer, organized with the support of local health authorities. This day coincided with the National Breast Cancer Awareness Day.

Women had the opportunity to undergo free clinical examinations, receive consultations from various specialists, including general practitioners, therapists, surgeons, and oncologists. Additionally, doctors provided mammograms and ultrasounds without the need for prior electronic referrals.

According to the event's results, a total of 1822 women underwent preventive mammological examinations. There were 669 referrals issued for mammography and 388 for ultrasound examinations. Furthermore, 170 women were referred for additional consultations with mammologists.

On the day of the event, 97 women received free mammographic screenings, which led to the timely identification of 8 cases suspected of breast cancer, and all patients were directed for further consultation and examination at specialized medical facilities.

Remember! Women over 40 should undergo screening mammography annually, even in the absence of complaints or symptoms. Timely diagnosis can detect precancerous conditions and malignant tumors at early stages, which are treatable.

Odesa's medical facilities are equipped with modern mammography machines funded by the city budget, and the Consultative and Diagnostic Center No. 6 has established a unique Family Health Center for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of breast diseases.
