Recent Health Update in Odesa Region

According to the Odesa Regional Center for Disease Control, last week 2626 residents of Odesa were infected with ARVI and flu, among whom 80.1% were children under 17 years old. The intensity of ARVI and flu incidence in Odesa is 50.3% lower than the epidemic threshold, indicating a low level of epidemic activity.

In terms of COVID-19, four residents of Odesa, all under 17 years old, fell ill last week.
The incidence of acute intestinal infections decreased by 16.6% compared to the previous week, totaling 80 cases, with 63.7% being children.

Isolated cases of viral hepatitis and airborne infections were recorded. No cases of measles, diphtheria, rubella, or tetanus were reported.

Experts from the Disease Control Center reported nine cases of whooping cough, eight in children and one in an adult.

Doctors remind that to effectively protect against whooping cough, children should be vaccinated at the ages of 2, 4, 6, and 18 months. Usually, the whooping cough component is included in combination vaccines that also protect against diphtheria and tetanus. Odesa's pediatric clinics are adequately supplied with the DTP vaccine against whooping cough, diphtheria, and tetanus. Vaccinations are free, and appointments should be made with a pediatrician with whom a declaration has been signed.
