A New Wave of Donation in Odesa

As the fourth year of war in Ukraine unfolds, the need for donated blood remains tremendous. Medical professionals understand the critical importance of having a steady supply of donor blood to save the lives of defenders and civilians.

This week in Odesa, the staff of the Primary Health Care Center No. 16 conducted their twelfth blood donation event since the war began. About twenty donors arrived at the blood transfusion station, ready to help save lives. One donation can save up to three people.

“In our medical facility, we have already formed a group of regular donors. Each time, new participants join us, and we motivate our friends and relatives to donate blood. We are ready to donate blood every two months — it’s safe, beneficial, and of course, it’s very much needed by our defenders,” said the director of the PHC Center No. 16, Hanna Pavlega.

Blood donation is:

  • prevention of cardiovascular diseases, strokes;
  • reducing the risk of certain cancers;
  • improving overall health;
  • regular donors live 3-5 years longer;
  • saving the lives of others.

Currently, blood donation is a vital contribution to Ukraine's defense capabilities.

Current needs for donor blood in Odesa’s medical institutions are posted on the Telegram channels “Odesa. Officially” and “Donor Odesa”, with the support of the Information Department of Odesa City Council.

Since the beginning of the war, about 13,500 blood donations have been made with the help of the "Donor Odesa" project, saving thousands of lives!

The “Donor Odesa” project actively participates in the annual charity initiative “Weeks of Good Deeds”.
