Palliative Care for Children in Odesa
The Odesa Children's Home No. 1 hosts a palliative care unit that provides medical support to children with severe health conditions.
The youngest child in the unit is just 1 year and 3 months old, while the oldest is 15. Most of these children suffer from congenital nervous system disorders, including cerebral palsy, among others.
The unit is equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology funded by the city budget and supported by charitable donations.
Children receive expensive treatments free of charge, specialized enteral nutrition, and live in comfortable conditions surrounded by attentive and caring staff.
In addition to palliative care, the Children's Home provides opportunities for medical rehabilitation for the children.
This week, the home was visited by representatives from the Kyiv District Administration, Compassion Medical (USA), and the Evangelical Baptist Church “House of Prayer.”
During the meeting, they discussed the current needs of the facility and reached an agreement on assistance with acquiring medical equipment that will significantly enhance the care of the children and ease the workload of the staff.
