New Cardiology Unit Opens in Odesa
At the beginning of the year, Odesa welcomed a significant addition with the opening of a new cardiology and cardiac surgery unit at City Clinical Hospital No. 11.
Providing top-notch medical care for patients with cardiovascular diseases is a crucial focus of the multidisciplinary hospital.
The new unit can serve around 1,000 patients annually, offering all medical services free of charge under the national medical guarantee program.
The establishment of its own cardiac surgery service allows for the introduction of transplantation techniques.
The unit has already successfully conducted its first surgical procedure involving the implantation of a dual-chamber pacemaker.
According to the head of the unit, Natalia Mozhey, the surgery was performed on an 80-year-old woman with complete atrioventricular block. The procedure was carried out based on urgent medical indications following international guidelines. The patient's condition has improved significantly, and she will be discharged in a few days.
Such surgeries mark an essential step forward in enhancing specialized cardiac surgical care in Odesa.
