New Era in Drug Production for Cancer Patients in Ukraine

Ukraine is set to begin the production of new medications aimed at combating cancer.

According to the press service of the State Enterprise "Medical Procurement," a deal with the international pharmaceutical company Roche regarding the localization of innovative drug production was signed during the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome.

"For the first time, our state enterprise is becoming a full-fledged partner of a global leader in innovative drug development! Under this investment agreement, the Swiss company Roche will supply medicines to Ukraine in bulk, and we will carry out their final packaging and distribution to patients," the statement reads.

This initiative will significantly reduce the cost of medications and increase the number of patients receiving advanced treatment.

According to Roche's estimates, this investment agreement will provide medications for over 5,800 patients within five years.

Among the drugs to be procured are atezolizumab for treating non-small cell lung cancer and the combination of pertuzumab and trastuzumab for treating HER2-positive breast cancer.

The first patients in Ukraine are expected to receive locally produced drugs by 2027.

This collaboration promises substantial reductions in drug costs and the development of pharmaceutical manufacturing in Ukraine.

The Ukraine Recovery Conference will take place in Rome on July 10-11, with participation from the President of Ukraine and heads of European states.

This forum will continue a series of high-level political events focused on the rapid recovery and long-term reconstruction of Ukraine, which is suffering from external aggression, highlighting practical projects already being implemented even in wartime.
