Commemoration Day for Fallen Medical Workers in Ukraine
In the fight for human lives, nothing could stop them – their hearts ceased to beat.
This was reported by the Ministry of Health.
On July 10, Ukraine observes the first Commemoration Day for fallen medical workers. This initiative comes from the team of the award "Order of Saint Panteleimon". It was established this year to honor the memory of medical personnel who died during the full-scale war.
Doctors on the front lines and in frontline areas, rescuing our soldiers under fire. Medical staff in the rear, working during air raids, in operating rooms without electricity, in bomb shelters. They fought day and night for the lives of both young and old Ukrainians, but sadly, many lost their own lives. There are hundreds of such medical workers.
According to the Order of Saint Panteleimon, over three years of war, Russia has killed at least 500 Ukrainian medical professionals. These include doctors, nurses, junior medical staff, and combat medics. They became targets of the enemy on the battlefield, in stabilization points, in operating rooms, and on the streets.
To preserve the memory of each fallen medic, the Order of Saint Panteleimon is implementing the project "Light of Memory", aimed at honoring those who gave their lives while fulfilling their professional duties. Within the project, in collaboration with the National Scientific Medical Library of Ukraine and regional partners, information about the fallen medical workers is being collected and systematized.
If you know of a fallen medic at the front or in the rear, in a civilian or military hospital, please send information to the email address: medlib@library.gov.ua
Be sure to include in the subject line: "Light of Memory".
Today, July 10, at 14:00, hospitals and medical institutions across Ukraine will sound a signal – the sound of a heart stopping. Following this, there will be a minute of silence. This is a sign of gratitude, respect, and mourning for the fallen medical workers.
Let us remember. Let us give thanks. Let us honor.
Eternal and bright memory to the fallen medical workers.
