Unbreakable Spirit: The Achievements of Young Gymnast Alexandra Pascal
The Black Sea Cup, a national rhythmic gymnastics tournament, took place in Odesa, featuring numerous young athletes from across Ukraine. Special attention was drawn to 9-year-old Alexandra Pascal, whose remarkable story has become a symbol of resilience.
In May 2022, Sasha was injured during a Russian missile strike on the resort village of Zatoka, finding herself trapped under the rubble of a collapsed building. As a result of her injuries, she lost a leg, but she didn't give up. With the help of a modern bionic prosthesis, she returned to training and her beloved sport.
At the tournament in Odesa, Alexandra won a gold medal. The City Council of Chornomorsk noted that her performance became a true symbol of resilience and inspired all the spectators. They cheered her on with thunderous applause, and the judges highly appreciated not only her technique but also the strength of character she displayed on the mat.
The young girl confidently states: «My work is motivation, strength, and the path to my goals. If you think someone pities me - no. I just move forward and do what I love».
Previously, Sasha Pascal became the prototype for the main character in Ukraine's first inclusive comic book for children.
