Youth Innovations in Science: Achievements and Projects

On the occasion of the World Science Day, the State University of Intelligent Technologies and Communication (SUITT) hosted the second competition-exhibition of scientific projects titled Science Skills Booster 2025.

The event featured both individual participants and teams. It was held in a hybrid format — both in-person and online. The preliminary stage lasted throughout May, with the finals taking place on May 17.

Outstanding projects were presented by students from Odesa lyceums No. 49, 62, 72, 121, 122, as well as students from the Vocational College of Communication and Informatization at SUITT.

Participants showcased a variety of projects, including computer games, alternative messengers, innovative devices, and technical solutions for education. Among the highlights were the “Safe Home” system, a smart solar panel with automatic orientation, and a power supply made from household items capable of functioning during a blackout.

The winners of the Science Skills Booster 2025 youth scientific creativity competition are:

Grand Prix (cash prize of 8,000 UAH from the main sponsor — the Ukrainian branch of ISOC) was awarded to the “LUX” team from Odesa Lyceum No. 62 for their innovative development of a smart solar panel with automatic orientation.

1st place — project “ProtoFlex – a utility for allocating individual VPN connections to specific applications” (author — Anatoliy Lakakov, 11th-grade student from Odesa Lyceum “Marinsky”, scientific supervisors — computer science teachers Irina Buz and Olena Lohina).

2nd place was shared by the project “Pinger – a messenger for secure communication and data transfer” (author — Mikhail Fasolya, 8th-grade student from Odesa Lyceum “Marinsky”, scientific supervisors — computer science teachers Irina Buz and Olena Lohina) and the development of the “Interactive platform for teaching programming using docker containerization” (author — Bohdan Popravka, 9th-grade student from Odesa Lyceum No. 72, scientific supervisor — computer science teacher Olena Kravchuk).
The winners received cash prizes from SUITT.

“Today we have once again confirmed that our youth has a clear vision of the future, is ready to work for the prosperity of the country, and impresses with innovative ideas,” summed up Yuri Kargapolov, head of the Ukrainian branch of ISOC.
