UNESCO Mission Arrives in Odesa: Assessing Cultural Damage
A UNESCO mission led by Ms. Chiara Decci Bardeschi has arrived in Odesa to evaluate the impact of the attacks.
The mission members are inspecting cultural heritage sites affected by the hostile actions on November 14.
The Director of the Culture Department of the Odesa City Council, Ivan Liptuga, noted that the attack damaged 22 architectural monuments, 19 of which are located directly on the UNESCO heritage site.
«A special commission will meet next week to prepare damage reports so that UNESCO can provide urgent assistance», — said Ivan Liptuga.
«UNESCO condemns the latest violation of international law regarding attacks on cultural heritage. We are collaborating with local authorities and specialists to understand our next steps», — emphasized Ms. Chiara Decci Bardeschi.
