Exhibition 'Echoes of War' Opens in Odesa Museum

On June 7, the Odesa Museum of Western and Eastern Art will unveil the exhibition «Echoes of War”. The creator of this project is an active member of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, whose identity remains undisclosed.

The museum announced the event on its social media platforms.

The initial motivation for this installation stems from the personal experience of losing comrades and the struggle to cope with traumatic memories. The concept of a memory space emerged in the author's mind as a place where every fallen comrade can be symbolically present in memory, as stated in the exhibition release.

This project is entirely confidential: no names, surnames, or personal data of military personnel are disclosed; there is no information that could unveil military secrets or the identity of the author, who is still serving.

The installation will consist of 88 canvases, each titled with the date of a comrade's death.

The project is curated by Yulia Tomashevska-Garachuk. As part of the exhibition opening, there will also be a lecture by the curator of the cultural memory platform Past/Future/Art, Oksana Dovhopolova.

The museum specifically warns that there is an age restriction: children under 16 are not permitted.

Entry on the opening day is free. Subsequently, tickets will cost up to 100 UAH. For those who were temporarily forced to leave their homes, entry is free.
