Exhibition of Fanny Lechevalier's Art in Odesa
The city of Odesa has launched a new exhibition by French artist Fanny Lechevalier titled «In memoriam. Reality through Art».
The exhibition is hosted at the Museum of Contemporary Art and will be open until June 17.
This exhibition serves as a visual conversation between history and the present, merging elements of classical painting with the harsh realities of war in Ukraine. The project intertwines art, documentary, and charity.
Fanny employs photomontage, layering images from war correspondents over famous works of Western art, creating striking visuals that compel reflection on the ongoing tragedy in Europe.
One of the primary goals of the exhibition is to raise funds for a rehabilitation hub where patients can receive educational and psychological support.
At the exhibition's opening, Odesa's Deputy Mayor Pavlo Vugelman emphasized that everyone has their own front in this war.
«Ms. Lechevalier, through her art, allows the world to feel the immense grief taking place on our land,» he stated.
The exhibition is organized by the Solidarity charity fund, which focuses on rebuilding Ukraine and providing comprehensive assistance to war-affected individuals.
Matthew-Marie Arden, head of the Solidarity fund, highlighted Odesa's significance as a cultural hub and a symbol of European solidarity with Ukraine. The exhibition is made possible with the support of Dovgyi Family Office, Odesa City Council, the French Embassy in Ukraine, the French Institute in Ukraine, Alliance Francaise, and Megabud.
Following Odesa, the project «In memoriam. Reality through Art» will travel to Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Lviv. The exhibition has already been held in Kyiv.
