Reviving Collecting Traditions in Odessa
On December 23, 2024, the conference «Odessa Collections» was held at the «#ARTODESSA» gallery in the Summer Theater of the City Garden.
The event gathered collectors, cultural scholars, and local historians.
The primary goal of the conference was to revive the tradition of collaboration among collectors in Odessa to actively address issues related to the preservation of Ukraine's cultural and historical heritage.
Participants discussed the prospects for preserving private collections, opportunities for their exhibition, museification, and cataloging. A significant aspect highlighted was the need for scientific research on collections.
Among the speakers were Ivan Liptuga, Felix Kohrikht, Semen Kantor, Anna Golubovska, Taras Maksymiuk, Oleksandr Friedman, Serhiy Syedyh, Dmytro Khamula, Denis Mitskevich, Oleksandr Surilov, Yulia Hurynenko, and Kateryna Pimenova.
Following the conference, a publication on collecting titled «The Universe of Odessa» is being prepared.
The conference was organized by the Department of Culture, International Cooperation, and European Integration of the Odessa City Council.
