Revitalizing Collecting in Odessa
On December 23, 2024, the gallery «#ARTODESSA» at the Summer Theater of the City Garden hosted a conference titled «Odessa Collections».
The event gathered local collectors, cultural scholars, and local historians.
The main aim of the conference was to revive the community of collectors in Odessa to actively engage in preserving Ukraine's historical and cultural heritage.
Topics discussed included the prospects for preserving private collections, opportunities for their exhibition, museification, and cataloging. An important aspect highlighted was the need for scientific research on the collections.
Speakers at the event included Ivan Liptuga, Felix Kohrikht, Semen Kantor, Anna Golubovska, Taras Maksimyuk, Oleksandr Fridman, Serhiy Sedyh, Dmytro Khamula, Denys Mitskevych, Oleksandr Surylov, Yulia Hurynenko, and Kateryna Pimenova.
Following the conference, a publication on collecting titled «Universe Named Odessa» is being prepared.
The conference was organized by the Department of Culture, International Cooperation, and European Integration of the Odessa City Council.
