Empowering Children for a Safer Future
Law enforcement officers in Odesa conducted training sessions for children to help them navigate dangerous situations and avoid threats. They also took the time to honor the memory of heroes who fought for Ukraine's freedom.
The police emphasized the importance of road safety, explaining how to safely cross streets, use reflective elements at night, and behave properly near roadways while riding bicycles, scooters, or electric vehicles.
Children had the opportunity to role-play as traffic regulators and discussed various life scenarios to reinforce their newly acquired knowledge.
Additionally, police held discussions about preventing violence, explaining to children the different forms of physical, psychological, economic, and sexual violence, providing real-life examples, and stressing that no form of aggression or humiliation is acceptable. Children learned where to seek help – from parents, teachers, police officers, or the national hotline, and received pamphlets with advice and contact information for relevant services.
Students were also made aware of online threats, learning about the main types of online scams, the dangers of communicating with strangers, how to recognize suspicious messages, and the rules for safe internet use. They were reminded of how to respond during air raid alerts and the importance of adhering to safety regulations.
In addition, in honor of the Day of Dignity and Freedom, celebrated on November 21, officers discussed national values with the children, watched a thematic video, and recalled the state symbols of Ukraine. Students created a Ukrainian flag and lit a candle in remembrance.
At the end, law enforcement encouraged the children to be responsible, care for their own safety, respect the rights of others, love their homeland, and appreciate national heritage.
