Honoring Roman Schwartzman in Odesa

During the City Day celebrations in Odesa, a new book titled «Roman Schwartzman. From Ghetto to Bundestag: The Voice of a Survivor» was presented, alongside a ceremonial event honoring the author, who serves as the head of the Odesa Jewish Association and is a committed public figure.

The Odesa City Council awarded Roman Schwartzman the title of Honorary Citizen of the city.

The event, organized by Roman Markovich, gathered esteemed guests, including members of a German delegation invited after his memorable speech in the Bundestag.

The Mayor of Odesa congratulated Roman Schwartzman, emphasizing his unique contribution to the city's life.

«This man is a true pride of Odesa. He has endured the horrors of the ghetto and persecution, yet has preserved his dignity and spirit. He represents Odesa on the international stage, conveying its voice to the world. His daily efforts, openness, and kindness serve as an example for all of us,» said Hennadiy Trukhanov.

Many heartfelt words were shared by guests during the meeting, expressing gratitude and admiration for Roman Schwartzman and his work. This day served as a reminder of the importance of memory, humanity, and unity.
