Youth Celebration for Independence Day at Odessa Zoo

On the eve of Ukraine's Independence Day, juvenile police in Odessa organized a memorable celebration for youth. The event was aimed at teenagers in need of support as well as children from families facing difficult circumstances. The event took place in the Odessa Zoo, with assistance from the zoo staff and community representatives.

Children had the opportunity to visit the animal kingdom, observing playful monkeys, majestic bears, gentle elephants, and proud camels, along with many other zoo inhabitants. The young visitors were thrilled to learn more about the animals' lives, habits, and preferences. Additionally, they enjoyed face painting, archery, and delicious treats.

Emergency service personnel also joined the event, demonstrating fire extinguishing techniques, teaching children how to use fire extinguishers, and explaining fire safety rules regarding matches and lighters.
Juvenile police distributed reflective items and safety brochures about road safety and behavior around water. They discussed safe practices at home, on the street, and in schools, as the new school year approaches. Police also focused on mine safety, explaining what to do if dangerous objects are found: do not touch them, inform adults immediately, or call emergency hotline 102. To enhance understanding, they showed models of various types of ammunition and explained why even toy-like objects found on the street can be dangerous.

“On the eve of Independence Day, we aim not only to bring joy to children but also to instill love for Ukraine, respect for others, and care for one another. Every girl and boy deserves attention, safety, and a happy childhood,” said acting head of the juvenile prevention sector of the Odessa District Police Department No. 1, Yuriy Luk'yanchuk.
