Odessa Art Revolution: Collector's Conference
The Department of International Cooperation, Culture, and Marketing of the Odessa City Council hosted the new conference "Odessa Collections" at the gallery "#ARTODESSA" on July 4, 2025.
The event aimed to unite collectors, cultural scholars, art historians, and art managers, while providing a platform to discuss the gathering, preservation, study, and popularization of art collections.
Odessa is rich with unique artifacts and artworks that hold significant historical and cultural importance. Preserving cultural heritage is especially relevant today. Developing new projects in the fields of museification and collection management is a key task for Odessa's cultural community.
During the conference, panel discussions were held on the following topics:
1. Characteristics of Odessa collections and collecting directions. (Anatoliy Drozdovskyi, Serhiy Kalmykov, Felix Kohrikht, Oleksandr Fridman).
2. Private and municipal collections. Museification. Expert evaluation. Preservation during wartime. (Semen Kantor, Zoya Shynchuk, Linda Strautman, Yuriy Balashov, Vitaliy Lisnychyi).
3. Study of collections. Relevance of replenishment. Archives. (Tetiana Shchurova, Olena Yavorska, Vera Fenelonova, Oleksandr Yakymchuk).
4. Popularization of collections and collecting. Educational and management aspects. (Oleksandr Kostohryz, Dmytro Sikorsky, Tamara Mykhailichenko).
5. Attracting investments and ideas. New concepts. (Denys Mitskevych).
