Summits of Courage: GUR Veterans Conquer the Himalayas
“We faced tremendous challenges” ― the premiere of the film about GUR veterans conquering the Himalayas on prosthetics took place in Kyiv.
On May 31, 2025, the documentary by Roman Bebekh, “Everest. No Limits,” was presented — a film that changes perceptions of what is possible.
This is a story of willpower, honor, brotherhood, and the desire to live.
The main characters are GUR veterans Ivan Tarn (“Artan”) and Alexander Dashko (“Kraken”), who reached the Everest base camp (5280 m) as part of the charitable project Limitless.
“Climbing Everest was symbolic for me. A great journey is already behind us, but ahead lies the peak of victory. This is an opportunity to show society what our brothers are doing at the front. If we could do this, imagine what they do every day,” said Ivan Tarn.
Alexander Dashko reminded that the climb in the Himalayas was a serious challenge.
“This ascent should be seen by other guys with amputations. They need to know: life after amputation goes on,” emphasized the veteran.
The film's author, journalist Roman Bebekh, documented the entire mountain journey that the military intelligence veterans undertook.
“It was difficult for everyone. We were all under pressure — both atmospheric and physical. But we made it,” he said.
Professionals climbers who accompanied Ivan and Alexander during the expedition were also present at the premiere. The group moved every day for 10-11 hours.
“To be honest, I didn't believe that Sasha would make it. That we would succeed. I had no doubts about Ivan. I dreamed of someone like him. Thank you to the whole team! You are incredible!”, shared climber Tetiana Yalovchak.
GUR representative Yevhenii Yerin thanked the organizers of the charitable project “No Limits” for their initiative and shared his impressions of the film.
“This is more than just climbing a mountain. It is a victory of spirit and willpower demonstrated by our brothers,” he said.
The aim of the Limitless project is to raise awareness about the problems faced by veterans with amputations and to gather 3 million hryvnias to combat phantom pains.
The project is implemented in collaboration with the UNBROKEN Ukraine rehabilitation center. The GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine supports this initiative.
