Completion of Bridge Repairs in Odessa Region
The repairs on the bridge connecting the ports of Izmail and Kiliya in the Odessa region are nearing completion.
This was reported by the State Agency for Infrastructure Restoration and Development of Ukraine.
Specialists have finished laying the top layer of asphalt on the bridge structure and its approaches.
Currently, road signs are being installed, embankments are being reinforced, and the bridge is being painted. Following this, grass will be sown on the slopes and road markings will be applied.
The bridge over the Kofa canal on road T-16-07 Izmail – Kiliya – Vylkove holds significant logistical importance, as it connects the Izmail and Kiliya river ports and four communities in the Izmail district.
“Thanks to the capital repairs, the movement of civilian vehicles, ambulance crews, school buses, emergency services, and freight transport will be expedited,” the agency notes.
The bridge over the Kofa canal was constructed in the 1960s and is located on the state road T-16-07 Izmail – Kiliya – Vylkove. It was declared emergency in 2021 after a hole formed in the middle, causing the entire structure to shift.
