New Funding for Ukraine's Energy Sector
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Renaud-Basso, have signed an agreement to bolster Ukraine's energy sector.
As reported by "European Truth", Shmyhal shared this news on his Facebook page.
The agreement will involve 270 million euros backed by state guarantees, along with a 140 million euro grant from the Norwegian government.
"This funding will enable Naftogaz of Ukraine to import substantial amounts of natural gas in preparation for the upcoming heating season," Shmyhal explained.
He noted that since the onset of the full-scale war, the EBRD has mobilized over 6 billion euros for Ukraine in the form of loans, grants, and guarantees.
Previously, it was reported that the EBRD plans to invest at least 1.5 billion euros by 2025 to support the economy and businesses in Ukraine during wartime.
Of this amount, 1 billion euros is earmarked for supporting the country's energy sector.
