Security Operation: Uncovering Illegal Arms Trade in Ukraine

The Ukrainian special services carried out an operation revealing illegal arms sales in four regions, arresting 15 individuals.

This was reported by the press service of the SBU.

During the operation, 15 suspects were apprehended while attempting to organize the illegal sale of military weaponry. Among the seized items were Russian Kalashnikov rifles with grenade launchers, fragmentation grenades, and explosives.

In Odesa, one individual was caught red-handed trying to sell homemade explosive devices and grenades. Almost 1 kg of TNT and other explosives were confiscated from the suspect.

In Kyiv region, a local resident and four accomplices were arrested for trading “trophy” weapons from conflict zones.

The criminals restored the combat characteristics of the weapons for sale through connections in the criminal underworld.

Two more gangs attempting to sell a Kalashnikov machine gun and a hand-held RPG were neutralized in the Kyiv region.

In Chernihiv, three members of a criminal group were arrested while looking for clients to sell automatic weapons.

In Lutsk, a local resident was caught trying to sell grenades to criminals. He planned to use anonymous payment systems to cover his tracks. The arrested individuals were charged under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of firearms, ammunition, or explosives). They are in custody and face up to 7 years in prison.
