Teenagers’ Dangerous Pranks: Consequences and Warnings
Fortunately, no one was harmed as a result of the boys' prank. Law enforcement conducted discussions with the children and filed administrative reports against the parents, who may face fines.
Recently, during an online monitoring session, police discovered a video in a messenger group showing four teenagers mixing household chemicals in a bottle in the entrance of an apartment building and throwing it onto the stairwell, resulting in an explosion.
After documenting the incident, juvenile inspectors from the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district police department identified and located the boys.
The police found out that the 12-year-old local friends had repeated an experiment they saw on social media for fun.
“These families had not previously come to the attention of law enforcement. We warned the youths about the inadmissibility of such pranks and reminded the parents of their duty to supervise where, with whom, and how their children spend their free time. Regarding the adults, we filed reports under part 1 of Article 184 of the Code of Ukraine on administrative offenses. This article qualifies the evasion of parents or guardians from fulfilling their legal responsibilities to provide necessary living, educational, and upbringing conditions for minors. This offense is punishable by a fine of up to 1,700 UAH. Administrative materials have been sent to court,” commented Pavlo Bobchynskyi, the head of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district police department.
Police urge parents to pay more attention to their children, explaining to them the dangers posed by household chemicals and other substances that can explode and cause burns and other injuries, as well as the consequences of unlawful actions.
